Maker's Mark Bourbon Whiskey 70cl maintain that they distil their bourbon to the lowest proof of any US whiskey distillery. This proffers a bourbon that retains a rich flavour. Developed by Bill Samuels Sr, he replaced rye with red winter wheat to reduce the burning sensation.
It's Cask Strength but it's Maker's smooth. Though it's bottled at a higher proof than either Maker's Mark or Maker's 46 bourbons, Maker's Mark Cask Strength has a lower proof than most cask strength whiskies. To us, a higher proof can overwhelm a bourbon with a heavy alcohol taste. And at Maker's Mark, we've always been about creating whiskies that taste yummy. Maker's Mark is the original handmade premium bourbon. Created by Bill Samuels, Sr. to be a bourbon that he would enjoy drinking himself.
Maker's Mark is smooth and approachable with an easy finish - a true contrast to hot, harsh whiskies that blow your ears off and a downright revolutionary idea at the time. Maker's Mark is made slowly in small batches, in our National Historic Landmark distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. While it makes any cocktail better, a lot of folks still prefer it on its own or over ice with a splash of water.
