Whether you’re looking to prepare your veg plot for planting, or simply want to keep it free of growth-inhibiting weeds, this compact and easy-to-handle cultivator from German manufacturers Al-Ko provides the perfect solution. Its powerful, high-torque Briggs & Stratton engine (3.5hp) drives a set of four tough, hardened-steel tines that will dig into and turn-over even damp, claggy soil-types.
The tines have a narrow 35cm working-width that will allow you to till between rows of established plants without fear of damaging them. The working-depth on the Al-Ko Hobby MH350-4 Cultivator can be adjusted through three stages to suit the nature of the application – for example a deep setting would be ideal for the preparation of virgin soil; while a higher setting will prove perfect for the removal of young surface-weeds (the lowest position is 26cm).
Thanks to its lightweight design (24kg) and ergonomic, height-adjustable handlebar, the Al-Ko MH350-4 couldn’t be easier to control and manoeuvre. A detachable front-mounted transport wheel makes the machine easy to move from site to site; while fold-down handles will save you a great deal of space in the storage area.
